Visual Rhetorical Analysis: When Do We Do That?

The answer is always. Americans are bombarded with purpose-driven, rhetorically-crafted images everyday–the most obvious and easiest to understand, I think, are print advertisements.

And that’s what we’ll be analyzing for this unit, print ads. For Thursday, bring an ad you’d like to analyze for practice and possibly write about. We’ll talk more about the specifics of the paper on that day, but for Tuesday, we’re going to jumpstart this new unit in a fun way, with an Art on Campus Tour at the Christian Petersen Museum in Morrill Hall.
